The vibe is laid back and mellow, yet a tourist can still take advantage of numerous high quality restaurants and shops. You always feel like a superstar when you are there. Definitely, you can leave your boring life behind and just enjoy yourself while you are there. The only caution I would give is that you will never accept second best again.
