The British Museum Never Fails to Impress

The British Museum is one of my favourite museums in the world. There is nothing quite like entering the old gates and seeing the stone facade and then stepping through the doors into the Great Court. It’s truly an impressive sight. It’s hard to believe that the British Museum has been around for almost 300 years – though obviously it hasn’t always been so grand.  The first collections were open to the public in 1759 in Montagu House, where the museum still stands today. Since then the collections have grown as has the museum, which now houses some of the most treasured antiquities in the world.
